Mahapon or Mahābon means the great forest and is the seventh of the 13 episodes of the Vessantara Jataka. The text describes the Brahmin Jujaka who was wandering in a small forest when he met the Ascetic Accuta who greeted him politely. Jujaka told the ascetic a lie that he was an emissary from Sivi City. The ascetic trusted easily, welcomed him with fruits and allowed him to stay overnight in his hut. In the next morning the ascetic showed him the way to Mount Vamka.
