When Kaliṅga City suffered from drought, the people were lacking water and food. They asked the king for help but he could not make rain for them. The king sent eight Brahmans to Vitheharat City to ask King Sivijaya for the auspicious white elephant. When the elephant had left Vitheharat City, the people got angry and banished Prince Sivijaya out of the city.
