On the cover is written “Makkah (…) al-Musharrafah 19 Muharram sanah 1330 Palembang marga Bengkulah Bandar Kayuagung al-Hajj Muhammad Aqib ibn Umar Dusun Tanjung Baru”. The Arabic script uses diacritics and has been adorned with many dots on the letters. Only the recto sides of the pages contain text. On the cover is also a printed illustration in green of a soldier with a weapon who is accompanied by a girl. Both stand below a domed minaret with a red flag with the crescent and stars.
