The manuscript contains the first part of the Tafsīr Jalālayn written by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī. Like most manuscript on Quranic exegesis it consists of two parts that were finished by different authors. The starting juz was done by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī while the second was done by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī. At the end of the manuscript are wedding sermons, explanations of how to say the prayers for the dead, and notes on the secrets of moon and sun eclipses that occur in particular months.
Colophon:
Wallāhu a‘lam bi al-ṣawāb. Fatatamuhu hādhā kitab al-tafsīr fī yawm al-Ithnayn fī waqt ba‘d ‘Ishā’ fī shahr Dhū al-ḥijjah fī hilāl 25 fī sanah Nabī hijrat al-nubūwah 1292
Other notes:
After the colophon, a prayer of forgiveness has been added directed at the parents of the scribe and it ends with “Fī qaryat Ciporang fi Balad Geni fi madīn Cirebon hādha tafsir al-Awal li Imam Jalaluddin”. Some pages are damaged with loss of text. The text is written with the use of diacritics. There are many marginal glosses in Arabic and interlinear glosses in Javanese.
