This narrative poem tells of the hero Jayengrana and is part of the Amir Hamzah cycle. Amir Hamza is an imaginary figure based on the historical figure of Hamzah, the uncle of the Prophet Muḥammad.

The damaged covers are made of carton covered with fabric. On the first page are two stamps with the text Petinggi Desa Boemiajoe (Head of the Village of Bumiayu), Gadang Malang. At the start and at the end are some notes in Javanese script. The text is a poem written in Javanese tembang macapat verse. The text is written with the use of diacritics.
