The text is written in Pali and is the chant of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (The Sutta on setting the wheel of the Dhamma in motion) which was the first sermon the Buddha delivered to his first five disciples at Varanasi in the Game Sanctuary at Isipana, in India.

Folio 31 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1221, a kat mòt year, on the sixth waxing day of the second [lunar] month, the fifth day of the week (Friday), a huang pao day. The writing [of this manuscript] was finished at the time of the morning drum (between 9.00 – 10.30 o’clock). Huanai (aunt) Khao had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of fascicle 2 of [this manuscript entitled] Sutmon (Chanting) to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May all my wishes come true. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvāna, permanence).
