While residing in the Tavatimsa Heaven, the Buddha was asked for help by a Devaputta named Supatitthita who had learned from his friend that he would die within 7 days and be admitted to hell and then become various kinds of animals and be disabled, for 500 incarnations for each kind. The Buddha read him a sermon describing the bad Karma (bad deeds) from his previous lives. In order to ensure that he would be in heaven for a long time, the Buddha advised him to learn and recite a special spell named Unhassavijaya and because of its power, Supatithita has not left heaven until the present.
