Malai Muen refers to during paying homage to Culamani Stupa in Tavatimsa Heaven, Venerable Malai Thera had seen the certain deities in a number of ten thousand, who came to pay respect the stupa at the moment. Venerable Malai Thera, a Buddhist monk who lived at Kamphosakham village in Sri Lanka known for legendary travels to heaven and hell. His story is popularly chanted during the Vessantara Jataka festival or Bun Mahasat. According to the legend, he visited heaven and hell and afterwards described to the lay people and fellow monks what he had seen.
