Description of manuscript content:
Fasamang Khamdaeng, the heavenly message from Indra to human beings in the world. The content contains the protective text of khatha (verses) in Pali in order to recite. In Sangkat (Culasakkarat) 1250 (AD 1888) there happened a war and dangers for all human beings. The bad persons who are lacking of morality and not respected to each other would be killed by themselves. Only the ones who are aware of good deed and follow the Teachings of the Buddha would escape from the dangers. The ones who have this Fasamangkham text in their houses would also be safe from all bad happenings.
Colophon:
Folio 9 on the verso side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1278, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), on the full moon day of the fifth [lunar] month, the writing [of this manuscript] was finished at the time of the morning drum (between 7.30 - 9.00 o’clock). Sathu [Monk] Uma and Sathu Khamduang and their children, grand-children and all their relatives had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Tamnan Fa Samang Kham to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May all my wishes and desires come true. Niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukkaṃ ([Nirvāna] is the greatest bliss, constantly and certainly).
