Description of manuscript content:
Sakkaban or Sakkapabbam (the section on Sakka or Indra) is the tenth section of the 13 sections of Veassantara Jataka. The content mentions about Sakka or Indra transformed as a Brahmin and bagged Princess Maddi from Vessantara. Vessantara gave Maddi to the Brahmin. Then the Bramin gave Maddi back and also eight blessings to Vessantara such as may the people of the Sivi city forgive him and invite him to back home.
Colophon:
Folio 20 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat (CS) 1269, a moeng mot year, on the ninth waning day of the third [lunar] month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), a kot set day. The writing of this manuscript finished in the morning between 7.30 – 9.00 o’clock. Phò Khamfong and Mae Khamfong (Father and Mother of Mr. Khamfong) had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Vessantara Jataka to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, which is the greatest bliss constantly and certainly).
