Thanakhan or Dānaka means "Alms-giving" is the third section of the 13 sections of Vessantara Jataka. The story tells Queen Phussadī talked with her husband, King Sonsai (Sanjaya) who ruled Sivi kingdom, requested for reducing the punishment of banishing for her dear son. But her effort was fail. Before leaving the kingdom, Prince Vessantara distributed many things as gifts which called "Satta jataka maha dana" (seven kinds of alms-gifts) including elephants, horses, carts, servants, dairy cows, male and female slaves, 700 each. Thereafter the Prince along with Maddī and children, Jali and Kanha left the kingdom directing to the Mount Vamka.

The writing of this manuscript finished in the morning between 7.30 – 9.00 o’clock. Phò Khamfong and Mae Khamfong (Father and Mother of Mr. Khamfong) had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Vessantara Jataka to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, which is the greatest bliss, constantly and certainly).
