Description of manuscript content:
The text pertains to strict taboos, the prohibition of certain actions in order to avoid misfortune to oneself, the family and the country: house construction, merit-making of people at different age, incest, funeral organizations, the arrival of wild animals in town, etc. Those who break the taboos would have misfortune and are required to undergo rituals to get rid of the evil. They have to prepare alms of worship and recite some prayers written in the manuscript. The prayers were translated into Lan Na. The text also includes predictions of different birth days, the elimination of adversities, words of praise for the Four Guardian Deities when experiencing sickness or seeing omens or hints representing bad things, (in)auspicious days for rituals or ceremonies, etc.
Other notes:
The manuscript is short-sized. The edges of many folios are damaged.
