Description of manuscript content:
Prince Manican was the son of the ruler of Pharanasi (present-day Benares). He travelled to Kasi when he grew up and became senabòdi (high-ranking official) later. One day he met and get married to the youngest daughter King Somarat name of Phrom Pan. They returned to Pharanasi city but were accidentally separated on the way back. Later, they found themselves and lived together as a couple until they had a son. Phrom Pan was then stolen by a Hastiliga bird (legendary bird) and brought to the realm of the ogre citys where she gave birth to a daughter. Prince Manican followed her and after having succeeded in finding Phrom Pan he brought her back to Pharanasi. The female ogre who took care of Phrom Pan during her stay at the ogre city gave him a marvellous marble. Manican could thus use it to reincarnate his mother. At the end, Manican was enthroned to rule Pharanasi after his father’s death.
