The story tells the merit derived from organizing a Therabhiseka (to pour water on a venerable) ceremony. In the Buddha’s time, King Pasendhikosala questioned the Buddha about the profits derived from making a Therabhiseka. Then the Buddha delivered a sermon giving a story. Once a king named Vijaya ruled Visala city. The king had religious faith in the Teachings of the Buddha and ruled his citizens by royal virtues. One day, the king together with his followers organized a Therabhiseka ceremony for great monks. When he died, he was born in heaven and possessed heavenly properties.
