The story tells about the Bodhisattva's perfection of renunciation. On one occasion, while dwelling at the Jetavana monastery, the Buddha mentioned about one of his previous existences, and delivered this sermon. The Bodhisatta was born as Prince Suttasom succeeding the throne in Pharanasi kingdom. The prince was worldly mundane, he wished to become an ascetic. He told his wish to his father, but the father did not agree with. The father wanted him to be his successor to the throne. So, the prince insisted his wish. Finally, he sneaked away for ascetic in the Himmavan forest. Indra ordered Visukam to create a hut for the ascetic. The practice is called nekkhamma paramattha parami (the high perfection of renunciation).
