The story tells of Thao Kampha (orphan man) who married the Baranasi king’s daughter named Princess Kesi Suvannapappha (or Kesi). They were expelled by the king and lived in a small hut in the forest. Kesi cooked and prepared good food for her husband everyday. But Kampha rejected the food because he had never had such good food before. One day, Kesi told Kampha to bring her wood for making fire. Kampha went to a mountain and brought the wood. When Nang Kesi saw the wood, she immediately found out that they were red sandalwood which are valuable. So, she sold the wood and made money. Then she told Kampha to bring more wood for sale. Later, they became rich with servants, elephants, horses, cows and buffalos.
