On one occasion, while was dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke about a wealthy man and delivered a sermon of this jataka. At the time, the wealthy man was sad, mourned, lamenting and crying because his child died. He could not eat until his body was thin. The Buddha saw the wealthy man by his divine eyes; he went to the man and spoke to him. Death is normal, nobody can avoid it. While listening to the Buddha’s preaching, his mind was relieved and spited sadness out. At the end of the sermon, the man obtained sotāpana (stream-enterer).
