On one occasion the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavanna Monastery in Savatthi, Ananda Thera questioned the Buddha about a person who has the religious faith in the Teachings of the Buddha is ordained as a novice or monk. What benefits will the person get? The Buddha delivered a sermon to the monks. The one who has the religious faith in the Teachings of the Buddha and allows his or her son to be ordained as a novice, he or she will gain much result for eight Kap (eon). If the son was ordained as a monk, he or she will gain much result for 16 Kap (eon).
