Description of manuscript content:
On one occasion while the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavanna monastery in Savatthi. King Pasenadi came to the presence of the Buddha. The king questioned the Buddha about what results would a person who is faithful in the Buddha’s teaching cover the Buddha statue with gold plate gain? Then the Buddha delivered a sermon to the king and described the merit derived from covering the Buddha statue with gold plate or painting the Buddha statue with colours.

Folio 7 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1209, a moeng mot year, on the sixth day of the waning moon of the sixth lunar month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), a kap chai day, the writing of this manuscript was finished at the time of the afternoon’s drum (between 13.30-15.00 o’clock). Loung (uncle) Sing and Pa (aunt) Mae Ta, together with their children and all relatives jointly sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Song Phok phachao, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition to reach Nibbana certainly).
