Description of manuscript content:
Vannapavet or Vanappavesanakhandaṃ (the forest-entry section) is the fourth section of the 13 sections of the Vetsantara jataka. The contents describe that Prince Vessantara led Princess Maddi, Jali and Kanha to Mount Vamka. On their way to Mount Vamka they welcomed by King Jetarat. The king asked Prince Vessantara to rule Jetarat kingdom together with him. But Prince Vessantara denied and asked the king the direction to Vamka hill. When they arrived at Mount Vamka, they separately stayed in two Sala (pavilion) which had already been erected there.

Folio 11 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat 1 hundred 812 (corresponding with CS 1182), a kot si year, on the thirteenth waning day of the eighth [lunar] month, the second day of the week (Monday), a ka pao day, the writing of this manuscript was finished at noon between 10.30-12.00 o’clock. Phò (father of ex-Monk) Suk and his wife, children and all their relatives had the religious faith to jointly sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Vessantara to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvāna, certainly).
