The text was written in Pali. Maddī, Princess Maddi, the Vessantara’s consort, is the ninth section and 12th fascicle in the Vessantara Jataka. When Princess Maddi goes away for fruits. As she is returning she finds her way barred by three fierce animals including a lion, a tiger and a leopard. Having known that Jujaka was away with her two children. By the time, three beasts sent by Indra let her pass. When Maddi arrives back at the hermitage having found no children anywhere. She inquiries from her husband what has happened to them. But he keeps silent. She is very upset, bursts into tears and falls down.

The copying [of this manuscript] was completed in the morning, on the ninth waxing-moon day of the second [lunar] month, a Sunday.
(Written with blue ink) “I want to know who copied the master version of this manuscript of Matthi. There is no information on the date and the version. There is not any remark written on the cover nor any colophons.”
Remark: The date corresponds to Friday, 5 November 1886 (1248 Karttika 9).
