Once upon a time, the Buddha gave his hair to an old couple at a mountain named “Khao Noi.” The two buried the Buddha’s hair under a golden persimmon tree. When they died, they were reborn as a god and goddess, and their duty was to protect the hair of the Buddha. After they died from the realm of heaven, a god was reborn as Phraya Phu, a king of Nan province, and a goddess was reborn as daughter of a village headman from Ban Suan Tan.
