This manuscript describes the La Wak Legend or the sorrow of the Buddha. The content of which mentioned the Buddha to be or “Mettayya” who knew in the future people will suffer. He asked the Buddha in this era that what would the suffering of people be in the future. The Buddha replied “when I die, people will not know the Dāna, Sīla and meditation practice, because of their defilements including Lobha, Dosa, and Moha. They will fight with one another. There will be famine and severe diseases and natural disasters.” After hearing that information, the Bodhisatta Mettayya cried out. However, during that time there will be a charismatic man born in the world. He will help and saves people from suffering. He will teach Dāna, Sīla and Bhāvanā “mediation practice.” They will hide themselves in the forest until the Bodhisatta Mettayya comes to the world. When the Bodhisatta becomes awakened, the chaotic will be disappeared, and people will live happily.

Monk Inthawongsa from Wat Monthian copied [this manuscript] on his own. May I achieve Nibbāna in the future. The copying was completed in CS 1260, on the fourth waxing-moon day of the twelfth [lunar] month, on a Tuesday.
Remark: The date corresponds to Saturday, 20 August 1898 (1260 Bhadrapada 4).
