Description of manuscript content:

This [sermon of the] Abhidhamma Piṭaka was delivered by the Buddha to his mother in Tāvatiṁsā Heaven. This Mahā Paṭṭhāna session or Paccaya 24 defines causes and factors of the Dhamma or emotions. For example, if we meritoriously behave, we will be reborn in heaven. If we sinfully behave, we will be reborn in hell. The fact is compared to a deeply rooted Bodhi tree that never falls down by storm. Emotions causing affection, anger, and delusion shake our minds. This is compared to the blind who depends on a rail for a walk or to a cowman who must remember the number and the characters of his cows in order to take care of them.

สักราช 1271 ปลีกัดเร้า เดือน 11 ออก 6 ฅ่ำ ยามกองงายแกล่ ปริปุณณะแกล่หัฏฐกัมมลิกขิตกลำค้ำชูพุทธสาสนา ฯ อิทํ เม ธมฺมลิกขิตฺตทานํ นิพฺพาน ปจฺจโย โหตุ ฯ หนานขัต บ้านมุรเทียรเขียน อายุข้า 75 เถิงปลีนั้นแล ฯ The copying [of this manuscript] was completed in CS 1271, on the sixth waxing-moon day of the eleventh [lunar] month, at the time of the morning drum. I copied [this manuscript] to prolong Buddhism. Idaṁ dhammalikkhitadānaṁ nibbānapaccayo hotu [May the merit support us to reach Nirvana] I am Mr. Nan (ex-monk) Khattiya, aged 75, living at Ban Monthian. Remark: The date corresponds to Sunday, 22 August 1909 (1271 Sravana 6).
