Once upon the time a senior monk Sārīputta asked the Buddha why people made too many unwholesome acts. They were not grateful to parents, not observing Sīla, and not practising loving kindness. Because of these, they were reborn in the realm of hell. Lord! How could they be liberated from suffering? The Buddha then gave the teaching on Ākāravatta-Sutta to Sārīputta including the 30 Pāramī “perfection,” 5 Parijāga ‘donations,” and the three Cariyā “conducts” so forth. The content of this teaching is recorded in the Pāli together with its Lanna translation.
