Maddī or Princess Maddi, the Vessantara’s consort, is the ninth section and 12th fascicle in the Vessantara Jataka. When Princess Maddi goes away for fruits. As she is returning she finds her way barred by three fierce animals including a lion, a tiger and a leopard. Having known that Jūjaka was away with her two children. By the time, three beasts sent by Indra let her pass. When Maddi arrives back at the hermitage having found no children anywhere. She inquiries from her husband what has happened to them. But he keeps silent. She is very upset, bursts into tears and falls down.
