I, Monk Mahāvaṃsa, wrote this manuscript to sustain the continuation of the Teachings of the Buddha to last until [the end of] 5,000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hontu me niccaṃ. In CS 1297, a dap khai year, on the fifth waning-moon day of the eleventh [lunar] month, a Monday, Monk Mahāvaṃsa wrote this manuscript by himself at Wat Si Bun Rüang Ban Hong, Li district in Hariphunchai.
