Description of manuscript content:
The contents of this manuscript consist of Pāli Gāthā “Verse” describing a story of the Bodhisatta when he was born as a prince Vessantara. The manuscript consists of thirteen Khaṇḍha “section” and each section is composed with different numbers of Gāthā. In total there are 1,000 Gāthās.
Colophon:
[The writing of this manuscript] was completed in CS 1279, a moeng sai year, on the sixth waxing-moon day of the seventh [lunar] month, the second day of the week as the Mon say, at the time of the evening drum. I, Novice Kongchai, wrote the manuscript during my stay of assistance to Sawathu Phi Luang Chaiya at Wat Si Bun Rüang, Ban Hong. May I successfully attain Nibbāna. Nibbāna paccayo hotu me niccaṃ dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ.
