Description of manuscript content:
Sakkhatti or Chakhatti (the six nobles) is the twelfth of the 13 episodes of the Vessantara Jataka. The tells that King Sonsai (Sanjaya) accompanied by Queen Phussatī, Jali, Kanha and four ministers travelled to Mount Vamka in order to invite the ascetic Vessantara to return to Sivi. While the six nobles were facing each other, each of them was crying bitterly and they became unconscious. Then it started to rain which made everyone regain consciousness. Then all of them apologized to Vessantara for their mistakes and invited him to abandon his ascetic robe and return to the city.
Colophon:
[The writing of this manuscript] was completed on the fifth day of the week. My handwriting is not beautiful but only readable. I am not good at writing palm-leaf manuscripts. I wrote the manuscript when I was a layman. May I possess sharp wisdom like a wise and moral scholar. May the merit derived from writing this manuscript support me and my family members. May I possess sharp wisdom next life like a wise scholar. May this generosity definitely reward me with benefits and wish fulfillment, as said by Metteya Buddha. [I wrote the manuscript] when I was a layman named Khanan (ex-monk) Mahawan. I wrote the manuscript for a brother monk. The writing was completed on the eleventh waning-moon day of the twelfth [lunar] month, the 5th day of the week.
