Description of manuscript content:
Chaliaochalat gave several stories to the king of Champa: a story of a king who lost his city because of deep obsession of gambling (Ska); a story of a goldsmith who disguised himself into a woman to have sexual affairs with a rich man’s daughter who was a king’s wife; a story of a garuda and a turtle; a story of a cowboy who cheated his neighbors.
Colophon:
[The writing of this manuscript] was completed at the time of the evening horn, on the third day of the week, a Tuesday, in CS 1265, a ka mao year, on the third waning-moon day of the eleventh [lunar] month. I, Monk Yawichai, wrote this manuscript titled Chaliao Chalat, fourth fascicle. May this merit be transferred to my family members, all lay supporters, and all practitioners at this monastery. May I possess sharp wisdom to understand the 84,000 collections of the Dhamma every future life. Niccaṃ dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ. I wish to attain the threefold happiness of which Nibbāna is the ultimate one. [I wrote the manuscript] during my stay of assistance to Sawathu Cao Sommana at Wat Ban Hong Chai, surrounded by coconut trees.
