Chaliaochalat gave several stories to the king of Champa: a story of a king of Bārāṇasī city and seven brave men. Having heard all stories given by Chaliaochalat, the king promoted him to be the city’s royal scholar.
Colophon:
[The writing of this manuscript] was completed at the time of the evening drum. May the merit derived from writing this religious manuscript reward me, my family members, and “my teachers” (central Thai script) with the threefold happiness of which Nibbāna is the ultimate one. May I be reborn in the period of Metteyya Buddha and possess sharp wisdom to understand the 84,000 collections of the Dhamma.
Sudinnaṃ vata me dānaṃ nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ.
In CS 1265, a ka mao year, on the third day of the week, at the time of the evening drum, I wrote the manuscript during my stay of assistance to Khruba Sommana at Wat Si Dòn Chai, Ban Hong. This place is surrounded by rice fields, crowded with people, and full of palm trees and coconut trees along the street. If you are not convinced [by the above-mentioned description on the area], please you all from Lampang feel free to meet me, Phimphisan. Those who read this manuscript are free to correct any mistakes left. My writing is not good enough.
