Description of manuscript content:
Nagara or Nakhon (entering the city) is the 13th of the 13 episodes of the Vessantara Jataka. The text tells of Vessantara who abandoned his ascetic robe and left his hermitage. The prince dressed in royal attire and returned to Sivi. He ruled his kingdom with royal virtue and died at the age of 120 years. He entered the Tusita Heaven as the male Deity Santusita.
Colophon:
In CS 1264, a tao yi year, on the fourteenth waxing-moon day of the ninth [lunar] month, the sixth day of the week, in early afternoon (12:00–13:30), Monk Sommana wrote this manuscript with his own hand to sustain the continuation of the Teachings of the Buddha to last until [the end of] 5,000 years or [last as long as] the life of the manuscript. May I definitely become a Buddha. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ. I wrote the manuscript at Wat Si Bun Rüang Ban Hong in Hariphunchai.
