Once upon a time, the Bodhisatta was born as a young poor man named Cittakumāra. One day, he found and rescued a six-ivory elephant who had been trapped. The elephant gave him one ivory in return. He brought it home. While he was away to earn money as a beggar, a lady living in the ivory appeared; she cleaned his house and prepared him food. Cittakumāra knew the fact and merited her. One day the king of the city wanted his wife. He challenged Cittakumāra with gambles but always lost. When the king passed away, Candakumāra was invited to become the ruler of the kingdom.

Monk Maṅgala wrote this manuscript with his own hand. May I be endowed with sharp wisdom and the threefold happiness of which Nibbāna is the ultimate one. Monk Maṅgala wrote this manuscript during his stay of assistance to Khruba Sommana at Ban Hong Chai in CS 1258, a rawai san year, at the time of the morning drum, on the ninth waning-moon day of the eleventh [lunar] month, the fourth day of the week.
May the merit be transferred to my family members.
