This Jātaka narrates the birth of the Bodhisatta as a young poor beggar. One day a god asked a question to the king of Campa and his officers who failed to answer it. They announced to offer half the city to someone who was able to answer the question. The young beggar could do it.

[The writing of this manuscript] was completed on the third day of the week. I, Khanan (ex-monk) Rin Can (teacher), wrote this manuscript when I was an expert assisting to Khruba Sommana at Wat Ban Hong in CS 1263, a ruang pao year, on the tenth waning-moon day of the twelfth [lunar] month. I wrote and donated this manuscript to sustain the continuation of the Teachings of the Buddha to last until [the end of] 5,000 years.
