This Jātaka narrates the birth of the Bodhisatta as a young poor beggar. One day a god asked a question to the king of Campa and his officers who failed to answer it. They announced to offer half the city to someone who was able to answer the question. The young beggar could do it.
Colophon:
[The writing of this manuscript] was completed in the morning, at breakfast time. My handwriting is not beautiful, only readable. The letters are a little messily curved. I, Yasamut, wrote this manuscript. May the merit derived from writing this manuscript support me and my family members. I wrote the manuscript to sustain the continuation of Buddhism in CS 1262, a ka pao year, on the eleventh waning-moon day of the twelfth [lunar] month, the third day of the week.
