When the Buddha was dwelling in the Veluvana Monastery, he delivered a sermon to bhikkhus, bhikkhunis, laymen and laywomen. He described his five daily routines: going out for alms-food in the morning; giving a sermon to his followers in the afternoon; giving instruction or answering questions of bhikkhus in the evening; answering questions of deities, God Indra and Brahma at midnight; and surveying the world with his divine eye to see if anybody needs help in the early morning.
