This is the fourth fascicle of the Maddhu Anuloma. In the Buddha’s lifetime, there was a girl named Passacitta Kummali who lived in Aranyakham located not far from the Veluvana Monastery. She was a daughter of the king of Benares. After her parents’ death, she became a destitute orphan without any relatives or supporters. She spent all the property of her parents. She thought that this might be the result of her previous bad conducts. Then she came to the Buddha and asked him about her situation. Thus, the Buddha delivered a sermon describing her previous existences: she had failed to observe any precepts nor honored her parents nor old people. That was the reason why she was destitute.
