When the Buddha wished to take people out of compassion as the way he had discovered, he first thought of his former teachers named Alara Kalama and Udaka Ramaputta; but he acknowledged through his meditation that both of them had already died. Thus, the Buddha thought of his five former disciples who lived in Isipatana Marugadayavana in Benares. Then the Buddha went to Isipatana and delivered his first sermon called Dhammacak-kappavattana Sutta to them.
