A group of thirty Pavayaiya Bhikkhus who strictly practiced Dhutanga was living in a forest near Saket City. After the Buddhist Lent, they intentionally went to Savatthi to pay respect to the Buddha. On their way, they faced with heavy rain, so they arrived at the Buddha with their wet and muddy clothes. When the Buddha saw their predicament, he allowed his disciples who had experienced the three-month Buddhist Lent to obtain Kathin robes. The monks who received the Kathin robes and other monks who participated in the Kathin ceremony obtained five kinds of merit.
