Description of manuscript content:
While the Buddha was dwelling in Kapilavatthu, he delivered a sermon to his disciples describing Dāna (alms-giving) and Sīla (morality). The results of alms-giving and observing the precepts depend on the practitioners. Those who wish to gain lokiya (mundane) results such as becoming a king, an affluent, God Indra, Brahma or an emperor, their wishes are regarded as carelessness because they follow their own cravings. If they wish to gain lokuttara (supra-mundane) results such as Nirvana, they are regarded as careful.
Colophon:
Folio 35 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat 1930 (AD 1930), a kot sanga year, on the seventh day of the waning moon of the seventh [lunar] month, a kat khai day, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), at the time of the temple drum, the writing of this manuscript was finished. Nang Phia Tun and Chan La together with their children had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Munla-nipphan to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May all our wishes and desires be fulfilled. May we achieve the Magga 4 (The Four Noble Paths) and Phala 4 (the Four Fruitions). May we all enter the crystal city or Nirvana without nuisance by Mara. May all diseases and dangers be vanished. Niccaṃ dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (constantly and certainly).
