Description of manuscript content:

While the Buddha was dwelling in Kapilavatthu, he delivered a sermon to his disciples describing Dāna (alms-giving) and Sīla (morality). The results of alms-giving and observing the precepts depend on the practitioners. Those who wish to gain lokiya (mundane) results such as becoming a king, an affluent, God Indra, Brahma or an emperor are regarded as careless-ness because they follow their own cravings. If they wish to gain lokuttara (supra-mundane) results such as Nirvana, they are regarded as careful.

Folio 32 on the recto side: In Sangkat (Culasakkarat) 12 hundred and 71 (corresponding to CS 1271), a hwai sanga year, on the eleventh day of the waning moon of the eleventh [lunar] month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), at the time of the morning drum (7:30–9:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Ai (“elder brother”) Di together with his wife, children and all his siblings had the religious faith to sponsor the making of these manuscripts entitled Munlanip-phan fascicle 1 and Unhatsavisai fascicle 1 to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until entering the Nirvana. May I dedicate the benefits derived from this merit to my parents and siblings who have passed away to the other world. If they have been stuck in a place of suffering, please have them moved to a good place. Even if they have already been stuck in a good place, please let them enjoy happiness numerous times more than previously definitely.-

Sādhu nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukkhaṃ niccaṃ dhuvaṃ (Well! Nirvana is the greatest bliss constantly and certainly). Folio 33 on the recto side: In Culasakkarat 12 hundred 71 (should be CS 1271), a hwai sanga year, on the eleventh day of the waxing moon of the eleventh [lunar] month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), at the time of the morning drum (7:30–9:00), the writing of this manuscript was finished. Ai Di together with his wife and all relatives had jointly the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Munlanipphan one fascicle and Unhatsa-visai one fascicle to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until we all enter the Nirvana definitely.
